Tutorial on Polaroid

Since poalroid SX-70 manipulation is a "lost art", this picture shows how it "was" done.
As you can see, the left side of the picture is unaltered, just as it came from the camera. The right side has been altered, my method used crochet hooks, to create the painterly effects.
On my Flickr Polaroid stream, is a 4 picture tutorial: www.flickr.com/photos/monetslens

Our Three Doxies Mosaic

Not a Polaroid, but a Flickr mosaic of our 3 Dachshunds.

Grace - short hair, Oliver - wire hair and Gulliver - long hair. Grace taught Ollie to "sit pretty" - Gulliver does not sit pretty and does not bark - he can, he just doesn't!

Old Point Comfort Lighthouse

Of my 1550 cataloged Polaroid SX-70 hand-altered images, this one is my favorite. The lighthouse is located on historic Fort Monroe Army Base, Virginia.
Used a Poalroid SX-70 instant film camera and Time Zero film. Origianl photo was taken in July 2000.

Egret at Newport News City Park

This is one of my favorite digital images. Taken at Newport News City Park (Virginia). The egret "posed" for about 20 minutes.

Multimedia Video "The End of an Art" Polaroid Manipulation

You may follow this link - www.dailypress.com/polaroid
to view a multimedia 2 minute presentation on the end of the Polaroid era. It features me, but I hope speaks for many of us who miss the magic of the Polaroid SX-70 Time Zero film.

The multimedia show was followed by a print article on the subject, which ran on Tuesday, 4/8/08 in the Daily Press, Newport News, VA. You can go to www.dailypress.com and search Gammon or Polaroid to read this article.

Many thanks to everyone who read the article and viewed the multimedia video. The writer, Sam McDoanld and the photographer, Adrin Snider both did a great job.

A Lost Art

The technique of Polaroid Image Manipulation is now a "lost art", as Polaroid no longer makes the Time Zero film needed for the process. I believe that it is a correct statement: " this is the first time in history that an art form disappeared because the raw materials needed to do it became extinct".
